Fund-A-Thon Online Donation FAQ
Q. Is my information safe and secure? A. At Fund-A-Thon, we want you to enjoy the rewards of online business and avoid the risks of using your credit cards online. We use a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information. Credit card numbers are encrypted in our secure database, which is located behind a firewall. Personal information collected is stored in a secure operating environment that is not available to the public. All credit card and registration information supplied by users is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. Q. Does online fundraising really work? A. Yes, indeed, according to a study by online services provider Kintera Inc., released in February 2003. In a survey involving 625 fundraising events, 430,000 participants and 800,000 transactions, Kintera found that fundraisers who used email raised, on average $327 from 6.99 donors (including themselves). Those not using the Internet raised, on average, $55 from 1.48 donors (including themselves). The study also noted that, on average, the more emails sent to solicit contributions, the more that participants raised both online and offline. Studies like this can offer useful insight; bear in mind, however, that the results of this one happen to have a potentially positive impact on the business of the surveyer, and that other significant variables (such as the size, budget and aggressiveness level of the campaign or event) are not necessarily accounted for.
