When your group is brainstorming fundraising ideas, don’t forget to include the thank you note. There are several parties responsible for the success of your fundraiser. Volunteers, sponsors and staff have all contributed their time and effort so that you may be one step closer to supporting your cause. Of most importance, however, are the donors. Without their donations, your organization could not have accomplished its objectives. This is why it is necessary for you to properly thank everyone who provided a portion of their income. A simple “thank you” goes a long way; the recognition of the goodwill of others not only reveals your appreciation towards supporters but also helps to establish a positive relationship with them. Being on good terms with this particular group of helpful individuals will prove to be beneficial in the long run if you are planning on hosting other fundraisers in the future.

Although there are several ways of showing your gratitude, the simplest methods will prove to be the most sufficient. Writing letters is one such method. Try sending a brief note/letter of thanks to acknowledge their donation. This makes an excellent fundraising idea. Be sure to provide some sort of document which specifies the amount they have donated so that they may use it for tax purposes. Also, consider sending a letter from either the President or some other authoritative figure of your organization to make the donor aware that you are being as sincere as possible in showing your thanks. Another option would be to send a letter from an individual whose life was made better due to the success of your fundraiser. Not only does this touching letter cause the donor to feel more involved within the entire process; it also invokes feelings of sympathy and a willingness to help the less fortunate once again.

Another method to show your thanks for their donations is to send a small token of appreciation. There are many inexpensive items available that you can purchase and distribute to all donors without taking much out from your budget, such as stationery. For further examples, information and pricing, research one of the many promotional product companies available. Whichever gift you choose to give, make sure to print your organization’s logo on it so that they will be constantly reminded of your appreciation towards their generosity.

Some donors will want to follow the activities of your organization and keep track of the progress of your cause. In this case, send newsletters that provide information of the improvements brought about by their donations. Do not forget to write a letter of thanks to all donors within the newsletter. Newsletters make an excellent fundraising idea. Also provide a list mentioning all those who have donated so they are recognized for their kindness.
